Scottish MacDonald's This is the Life is simply brilliant. She claims the acoustic simplicity stems from listening to Travis's The Man Who as a teenager, and there are soundbites from the Cranberries with a hint of the Morrissey jingle-jangle (think of "the loop" or "why don't you find out for yourself"). No weak songs really, but start with Footballer's Wife, Mr Rock and Roll, This is the Life and Let's Start a Band! An album well worth a listen.
